This officially in…. TEEN Shop with a Cop Holiday event will be held at Scottsdale Fashion Square Mall on Sunday December 15th.   We are hoping to take 75 teens this year, doubling last year’s total.  SROs (School Resource Officers) in the SUSD will be selecting the teens this year and will be making their selections based on not only need, but also on good deeds in the community and schools.  We want to reward TEENS for being young community stewards.

SFS Mall (Westcor) is helping to sponsor the event but we will need more sponsors to try to reach our goal.  If you want to be a TEEN sponsor please email me at posaoutreach@hotmail.com or you donate directly on line at www.posacares.com and put TEEN in the description section.   Thank you !!

Thank you for helping us raise $2700 for Brinley at Cold Stone Creamery Fundraiser!

Thank you to Cold Stone Creamery for hosting our fundraiser for Brinley today.  With the help of our friends and the community we raised $2700 for Brinley to help with her medical bills and travel to specialists.  We were told this is a one day record breaking total at a Cold Stone Creamery ice cream social event.  Yippee!  You have to love our community who turned out to help our SPD Officer’s daughter.

Police and Fire Agencies Invited to Participate in Annual 9-11 Memorial Healing Field on Sept 11, 2013

All Arizona Police and Fire departments are being asked to send an honor guard and/or an emergency vehicle to the Healing Field at Tempe Beach Park on September 11th for the 12th memorial anniversary of the attacks on our country by terrorists.

Remembrance ceremonies will begin at 5:40 am and 6:30pm on September 11th. Cars will be placed around the healing field with blue and red lights on to honor those who gave their life trying to save innocent civilians. Please contact Cynthia Hill, POSA (Police Officers of Scottsdale Association), or call 480-433-1101 to arrange for your department to be involved.

Honor guards are also encouraged to participate in both the morning and evening ceremonies on September 11th.  Names of fallen first responders will be read at the morning memorial service.

POSA is an annual sponsor of this 9-11 Memorial Healing Field  in Tempe along with the City of Tempe and Valley of the Sun Exchange Clubs Foundation and Tempe Exchange Club. It is the largest and longest running healing field in the Southwest with over 3000 full size American flags. It is a day that should always be remembered as a day terrorists tried to alter the psyche of a nation with fear. A day we never should forget.

We are also very thankful to Valley Toyota Dealers who are annual sponsors for this event.

UPDATE:

Volunteers are welcome to help set up on the morning of September 10th at 6:00am.  Your help is much appreciated and if last year’s response is anything to go by… we will be finished setting up in just a few hours of hard work.  If you can make it, just show up at Tempe Beach Park, bring work gloves and sun block.  We’ll have water for you.  We also need volunteers on the morning of the 15th to help break down Healing Field.
