THANK YOU!!!!!

Final Spring Shred’em Event

Saturday, May 25, 2013

Shred’em will be held at the Wal-mart Supercenter on Northsight Blvd in Scottsdale, Arizona from 7am-10am to benefit POSA’s Back to School Shop with a Cop program for underprivileged children. Donations of $3.00 a box are requested.

Receipts for tax deductions will be handed out on site as POSAOUTREACH is a 501(c)3 non profit.  All items are shredded by CINTAS on site.

We take the hot summer months off, but will resume holding Shred’em events in September.

Thanks to the Scottsdale community we raised $1000 for Horsense a 501c3 after school program for disadvantaged children, $200 for the Blue Ribbon Program for Child Abuse Prevention and $800 for Back to School Shop with a Cop at our last Shred’em event in April.  We had over 200 cars drop off boxes for on- site safe recycling.

Hope to see you there!

Thank you to Officer Craig Abernethy for coordinating all of these Shred’em events for POSA OUTREACH!

The temperature was in the high 80’s at Coronado High School when Cynthia Hill started the evening’s event by singing the National Anthem just before this year’s grudge match of the “Battle of the Badges” where Scottsdale Police vs. Scottsdale Fire, competed in a special charity flag football game.  The event was an amazing success!  […]

April is child abuse prevention month! Help us raise money for the Scottsdale FAC!

April is “Child Abuse Prevention” Month

believe in the blue

POSA (Police Officers of Scottsdale Association), the Professional Exchange Club of Scottsdale, the Valley of the Sun Exchange Clubs Foundation, Right Toyota of Scottsdale and Kathy Breen, Farmers Insurance team up for the 2013 Blue Ribbon Campaign for child abuse awareness.

For the past several years the blue ribbon has been widely recognized as a national symbol of child abuse awareness. This movement began in the spring of 1989 – when a concerned grandmother took a stand against child abuse after experiencing the death of her grandson. She tied a symbolic blue ribbon to her van as a signal to her community of her personal commitment to involve everyone in the battle to stop child abuse. The spirit of her blue ribbon grew and it inspired a national effort to join forces in this tragic battle.

Today – the blue ribbon symbolizes the more than 3.2 million abused children reported each year to Child Protective Services (CPS) throughout the United States.

During the month of April – Child Abuse Prevention Month – nearly 1,100 Exchange Clubs and Exchange Club Child Abuse Prevention Centers conduct a Blue Ribbon campaign in their communities across America.

In recognition of April as Child Abuse Prevention Month, POSA is partnering with the Professional Exchange Club of Scottsdale, the Valley of the Sun Exchange Clubs Foundation, Right Toyota located on Frank Lloyd Wright Blvd in Scottsdale AZ and Kathy Breen, Farmers Insurance for the sale of Blue Ribbons.

Buy a Blue Ribbon for a $1… POSA will donate an additional $1, the Exchange Club of Scottsdale will donate $1, Right Toyota will donate $1, Kathy Breen with Farmers Insurance will donate an additional $1 and the Valley of the Sun Exchange Clubs Foundation will donate $1 to the Scottsdale FAC (Family Advocacy Center) to use for training and tools to support the families and children up to $500.00 per organization.

Sgt. Carrie Candler is available to answer any questions you may have regarding the Scottsdale FAC at ccandler@ScottsdaleAZ.gov.

For every $1.00 donated, $5 additional dollars will be given to the Scottsdale FAC.  5x your donation! In April, we could raise $3000 or more…to help your Scottsdale FAC work on issues of Child Abuse in the Scottsdale community.

For more information about the Blue Ribbon Campaign email Cynthia Hill at posaoutreach@hotmail.com.

Donations can also be accepted directly at the POSA office.  There are blue ribbon donation boxes with blue ribbons at each district.

All blue ribbons will be sent to the Scottsdale FAC with your name on it for them to display in the lobby.

*Checks can be made Payable to POSA OUTREACH 501c3 and are 100% tax deductible. Please indicate “Blue Ribbon Campaign” on your check.  believe in the blue

POSA Member Kelly Wills from Scottsale FAC to talk about Child Abuse Prevention April 12, 2013

Friday, April 12th, Meeting with Speaker, 12:00 Noon at Busters
POSA Member, Kelly Wills
from the Scottsdale Family Advocacy Center will be the speaker for this meeting.  The Exchange Club of Scottsdale, Right Toyota and POSA (sponsor) is running a golf tournament for the benefit of the FAC this month and we are supporting them through the Blue Ribbon campaign. The Scottsdale Family Advocacy Center opened in 2002 and since that time has been serving victims of violent crimes. They actively take steps to prevent child abuse through community outreach and advertising the availability of resources. They provide a one-stop triage type location for victims of violent crimes and a comfortable environment for victims where they are able to receive services from multiple disciplines to address his or her criminal, emotional, and physical needs. Come hear about this important service provided in our community.
