POSA (Police Officers of Scottsdale Association), the Professional Exchange Club of Scottsdale, the Valley of the Sun Exchange Clubs Foundation, and Right Toyota of Scottsdale team up for the 2014 Blue Ribbon Campaign for child abuse awareness.

For the past several years the blue ribbon has been widely recognized as a national symbol of child abuse awareness. This movement began in the spring of 1989 – when a concerned grandmother took a stand against child abuse after experiencing the death of her grandson. She tied a symbolic blue ribbon to her van as a signal to her community of her personal commitment to involve everyone in the battle to stop child abuse. The spirit of her blue ribbon grew and it inspired a national effort to join forces in this tragic battle.

Today – the blue ribbon symbolizes the more than 3.2 million abused children reported each year to Child Protective Services (CPS) throughout the United States.

During the month of April – Child Abuse Prevention Month – nearly 1,100 Exchange Clubs and Exchange Club Child Abuse Prevention Centers conduct a Blue Ribbon campaign in their communities across America.

In recognition of April as Child Abuse Prevention Month, POSA is partnering with the Professional Exchange Club of Scottsdale, the Valley of the Sun Exchange Clubs Foundation, and Right Toyota located on Frank Lloyd Wright Blvd in Scottsdale for the sale of Blue Ribbons. PCIS will also be selling the Blue Ribbons.

Buy a Blue Ribbon for a $1… POSA will donate an additional $1, the Exchange Club of Scottsdale will donate $1, Right Toyota will donate $1, and the Valley of the Sun Exchange Clubs Foundation will donate $1 to the Scottsdale FAC (Family Advocacy Center) for PCIS to use to support the victims of child abuse and domestic violence up to $500.00 per organization.

Friday, April 12th, Meeting with Speaker, 12:00 Noon at Busters

They actively take steps to prevent child abuse through community outreach and advertising the availability of resources. They provide a one-stop triage type location for victims of violent crimes and a comfortable environment for victims where they are able to receive services from multiple disciplines to address his or her criminal, emotional, and physical needs. Come hear about this important service provided in our community.
